A Gift Given With Good Intentions
In 2016, Jackie Fedro made a decision many parents eventually face.
Her daughter Gabbie was 13 years old, busy with practices and activities, and often away from home.
A phone felt like a practical step—less about freedom, more about staying connected.
“One of the reasons we finally caved and got her a phone was so we could stay connected with her better, since her practice schedule is so hectic,” Jackie later explained.
For Christmas that year, Gabbie received her first cellphone.
Nothing about that moment hinted at what would follow.
