Eyewitness Accounts vs. Federal Claims
As footage spread, eyewitnesses began describing what they saw and heard.
One witness told reporters they heard gunshots and then a crash within a short window of time — and said they did not personally observe behavior from the vehicle that suggested a deliberate threat in the moments before the shots.

Statements attributed to DHS leadership claimed Renee “weaponized” her vehicle against officers, and the incident was even labeled “domestic terrorism” in some federal messaging.
President Donald Trump also weighed in publicly, blaming the victim and describing the situation as self-defense by the officer.
Local leaders disputed that framing.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly rejected the federal characterization, calling the self-defense narrative false and describing the shooting as reckless.
So the country split into two tracks:
• “Lawful self-defense”
• “Unjustified killing”
And between those tracks sits one fact nobody can debate:
Renee Nicole Good is dead.
