3. Very Pale Pastels — Pretty, but Often Draining
Pastels feel soft and fresh in theory.
On the body, they can be lovely.
Near the face, very pale pastels can:
- Create too little contrast with the skin
- Wash out natural color
- Make the face look tired rather than fresh
This is especially true for icy pinks, baby blue, and pale beige.
Instead of avoiding them completely:
- Use pastels as accessories
- Choose richer versions (raspberry, sky blue, soft coral)
- Layer them away from the neckline
Contrast is what brings life back to the face.
