“Building policy,” Carl muttered. “No unattended minors after hours.”
The boy shifted nervously. “But she works upstairs… she just told me to wait here.”
Carl sighed, finally turning his chair.
“Kid, I don’t make the rules.”
“It’s raining,” the boy whispered.
