Metal detectors, scanners, and inspection systems are used to make sure nothing dangerous makes it into consumer packaging.
To verify that these systems are working properly, manufacturers use special test components.
The blue disk was one of them.
These test pieces are deliberately designed to trigger detection equipment during routine checks. If the system fails to catch the test piece, production stops until the issue is resolved.
In other words, the disk exists to prevent real problems.
Importantly, these components are made from materials that are non-toxic and safe to handle. They are never intended to reach consumers — but in rare cases, human or mechanical error allows one to slip through.
