A Text Popped Up on His Unlocked Phone—And It Wasn’t About Me “Overthinking”

“Soon, babe. Just got a situation I need to handle first.”

“The roommate situation?”

“Exactly. Just gotta ride this out through the holidays. Complicated logistics.”

He called her babe.

He called me logistics.

And he was counting down the days until he could cash out and leave.

Why I Didn’t “Just Break Up”

If you’ve never been manipulated, it’s easy to say “leave.”

But I knew exactly what he’d do if I confronted him immediately:

  • He’d say I violated his privacy.
  • He’d flip the story until I looked unstable.
  • He’d walk away acting like the victim.

And then he’d tell everyone I was “crazy,” just like he told his friends I was “desperate.”
