State Officials Say They’ve Been Cut Off
Vance’s comments came as reports emerged that the FBI had restricted state access to the investigation.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed it was no longer participating.
Drew Evans, the agency’s superintendent, said the U.S. attorney’s office had barred the BCA from continuing its work.
“The investigation will now be led solely by the FBI,” Evans said.
He added that state investigators no longer had access to:
- Case materials
- Scene evidence
- Investigative interviews
Without those elements, Evans warned, an independent investigation was impossible.
For many, the move confirmed their worst fears.
That accountability would never reach daylight.
