What I saw sent a jolt through my spine. It wasn’t just the cold that pierced the air inside that steel shell—something, or someone, was there. The shadows shifted, and I could make out a figure, huddled in a corner, barely moving.
My heart pounded as I stepped in, the cold seeping through my layers. “Hey,” I called out, my voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through me. There was no response, just the soft whimper of the wind outside.
Drawing closer, I saw the figure was indeed a person—a young woman, wrapped in what seemed like a thin blanket, her lips blue from the cold. Her eyes fluttered open, panic mixed with relief as she realized she was no longer alone.
“It’s okay,” I reassured her, kneeling down to assess her condition. She was alive, but barely. I had to act fast if she was going to survive the freezing temperatures.
