The jaw is one of the most honest emotional indicators.
A clenched jaw often means something is being held back:
- anger that isn’t safe to express
- stress under pressure
- intense concentration
Lips pressed into a thin line often signal disagreement or restraint.
Frequent lip biting or chewing is commonly a self-soothing behavior.
None of these mean deception.
They mean regulation.
The body trying to keep emotion from spilling out too soon.
When you spot jaw tension paired with shallow breathing, you’re usually looking at someone nearing overload.
