Facebook Users Across Multiple Countries Report “Account Temporarily Unavailable” Error During Widespread Service Disruption

Because the message specifically referenced a “site issue,” many users believed their accounts had been suspended or compromised before realizing that the problem appeared to be affecting a large number of people at the same time.

Within minutes, reports of the disruption surged across outage-tracking platforms, with thousands of users confirming they were seeing the exact same error. Discussions also spread rapidly on Reddit, X, and other social media platforms, where people compared screenshots and shared their experiences.

Users from multiple countries reported being affected, suggesting the disruption was not isolated to a single region. Although the exact number of impacted users remains unknown, the volume of reports indicated that the outage was widespread enough to affect a significant portion of Facebook’s global audience.

Interestingly, not everyone encountered the same problem. While many users were unable to access Facebook through a desktop browser, others reported that the mobile application continued to function normally. Some users said they could still browse their news feed, send messages, and receive notifications through the app despite being unable to log in on a computer.

Others experienced the opposite, with intermittent issues affecting both desktop and mobile access. The inconsistent nature of the disruption suggested that the outage may have impacted different servers or regions in different ways, rather than causing a complete global shutdown of the platform.

As the reports continued to grow, many users initially feared their personal accounts had been disabled or hacked because the error message appeared before any official acknowledgment from Meta. Online forums quickly filled with questions from concerned users asking whether anyone else was experiencing the same issue.

Outage-monitoring services recorded a sharp spike in user reports shortly after the problem began, reinforcing the belief that the disruption was platform-wide rather than the result of individual account issues.
