What Happens When Reality Finally Enters the Room
The next part wasn’t dramatic.
It was slow and heavy.
Lenders turned them down.
The numbers didn’t work without my monthly deposits.
One lender offered a rate so bad it felt like punishment.
Then the “For Sale” sign appeared.
The listing photos were beautiful.
And quietly desperate.
Offers came in low.
Friends got distant.
Their marriage started to creak under the weight of pretending.
They asked me to reconsider.

- Bargaining
- Half apologies
I said no every time.
Not to punish.
To protect myself.
