Page 3 — Slime Molds Aren’t Mold (And That’s the Weird Part)
Despite the name, slime molds are not true molds or fungi.
They’re classified as a unique type of organism altogether.
They live part of their life as single cells.
Then — under the right conditions — those cells merge into a larger, visible structure.
That structure can:
- Move slowly across surfaces
- Change shape over time
- React to light, moisture, and food sources
This is why slime molds often appear suddenly after rain or humidity spikes.
They feed on microscopic organic material like bacteria and decaying matter.
And then — just as suddenly — they disappear.
But here’s the part that truly unsettles people.
