She looked at me and added: “I’m so sorry.”
Then she said something I didn’t expect.
“We’re going to handle this properly.”
The “Gift” They Thought They Were Getting
Ben had bragged about the beach house in the footage.
A place Sharon owned. A place Ben clearly believed would eventually be his.
Sharon decided that would be the stage.
She planned a small gathering—her birthday, she said.
Family. Close friends.
And of course… she invited Lena.
Lena showed up dressed like she was attending a celebration that mattered to her personally.
Ben looked confident. Almost smug.
Like a man who thought he’d already won.
At one point, Sharon stood up to make a toast.
The room quieted.
Sharon smiled at Lena and said, “Thank you for your help. You’ve nearly become family.”
Lena beamed.
Ben’s mouth curled like he could already taste the payout.
Then Sharon said: “So today, I want to give you a gift—this beach house.”
You could feel the oxygen leave the room.
Lena’s eyes widened.
Ben looked like he’d just been validated by God.
And then Sharon’s voice sharpened.
“But that’s what you thought I’d say, isn’t it?”
Silence hit like a slap.
