I Came Home with My Newborn Twins to Find the Locks Changed, My Stuff Thrown Out

Her Real Reason Was Worse Than I Expected

Lorraine crossed her arms and looked me up and down like I was a bad purchase.

Then she said it.

She wanted a boy.

Not just “would have been nice.”

She meant it like a requirement.

“A family needs a boy to carry on the name,” she said.

And because I gave birth to two girls, she called them useless.

I stood there trying to process the level of cruelty it takes to say that about newborn babies.

Then she started listing what she’d done, like she was proud of her own plan.

  • She wrote the note and signed Derek’s name.
  • She took his phone so he couldn’t call me.
  • She engineered the timing so I’d arrive alone and panic.
  • She assumed I’d grab my bags and disappear.

She even bragged that Derek “always takes her side.”

That line stuck in my throat.

Because if she was right, I wasn’t just locked out of a house.

I was locked out of a marriage.

I didn’t scream.

I didn’t beg.

I got in the car and drove to the hospital.

And on that drive, I wasn’t heartbroken anymore.

I was focused.

Because Lorraine had bet everything on one assumption: that Derek would never challenge her.

She was about to find out whether she’d been wrong.
