“You’ve sacrificed so much, Claire. You deserve someone who sees that.”

Jenna moved to the couch, picking up an empty bottle. “This place looks like a frat house.”

I sighed, feeling the weight of the last decade crash over me. “This was supposed to be our life. I thought we were building something together.”

“But it feels like it’s all been for him, doesn’t it?”

“Every time I try to talk to him about it, he brushes me off. Like I’m just… nagging.”

“You’re not nagging. You’re voicing your concerns. You shouldn’t have to justify asking for respect.”

“Respect. That’s what I’m missing.” I could feel a lump forming in my throat. “I’ve been waiting for him to succeed, living on hope while my own dreams slipped away.”
