The photograph had been taken with a Kodak Instamatic during the summer of 1976 at Myrtle Beach.
The colors had faded into soft oranges and golden browns, giving it that warm look old photographs always seem to have. The corners were bent, and a tiny crack ran across one edge, but somehow those imperfections only made it more beautiful.
There I stood barefoot on the sand.
My best friend Linda was standing on one side of me, laughing so hard her eyes were nearly closed.
Tommy stood on my other side with one arm resting across my shoulders.
