The days stretched on, each one a reminder of the life that had been, and the uncertain future ahead.
Even the apartment felt different, the walls closing in as if they too were aware of the changes impending.
I found myself lingering by the window, watching the cars on the highway rush by, their headlights blurring into streaks of light in the early evening.
Each car held its own story, its own destination, while I remained stuck in place, waiting for a resolution that seemed ever out of reach.
The anticipation was suffocating, the promise of financial freedom tainted by the complications that came with it.
