A noticeable bruise on President Donald Trump’s left hand drew widespread attention during a high-profile signing ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday, prompting the White House to issue a swift explanation.
The discoloration, described by observers as a deep purple mark on the back of the president’s hand, became visible as Trump participated in the formal launch of the “Board of Peace,” an advisory group aimed at overseeing aspects of the fragile Gaza ceasefire.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt directly addressed the matter in a statement provided to reporters.
“At the Board of Peace event today in Davos, President Trump hit his hand on the corner of the signing table, causing it to bruise,” Leavitt said.
The president himself later commented while speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, confirming he had “clipped” his hand on the table and attributing his susceptibility to bruising to his daily aspirin regimen, prescribed for cardiovascular health.
