The Raid That Turned Deadly
ICE and Customs and Border Protection agents had been operating across Minneapolis and neighboring St. Paul as part of a large-scale enforcement effort.
According to reports, as many as 2,000 federal officers were expected to participate in coordinated raids across the region.
Renee Nicole Good—a US citizen and mother to a six-year-old son—was caught in the middle.
Authorities claim that during the operation, Good attempted to flee and “weaponized” her vehicle, allegedly trying to run down an ICE officer.
The officer opened fire.
Good was struck while still in the driver’s seat.
Her vehicle continued forward and crashed into two other cars before coming to a stop.
She died at the scene.
Video footage circulating online shows only fragments of the encounter, leaving many unanswered questions.
For the community, those gaps are where anger has taken root.
