The girl was shaking. She pressed herself against the biker’s chest, and that’s when she saw the skull patch up close. Her whole body changed. The panic didn’t leave, but something else arrived alongside it.
Recognition.
“You’re the angels,” she said. “The ones with skulls. Mommy told me about you. She said you help kids. She said if I ever got away from him, find the skull angels and say the word.”
The biker went still. “What word, sweetheart?”
She leaned up and whispered in his ear.
