2. Invisible Fatigue: More Than Just Feeling Tired

One of the most misunderstood symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis is fatigue.

This isn’t ordinary tiredness that disappears after a good night’s sleep.

RA fatigue can feel overwhelming and relentless.

Because the immune system is constantly active, the body uses a tremendous amount of energy fighting inflammation. As a result, many people experience exhaustion that affects both physical and mental functioning.

Simple activities such as grocery shopping, cleaning the house, or attending a family gathering can leave someone completely drained.

Unfortunately, fatigue is often difficult to explain to others because it cannot be seen.

Many people with RA report hearing comments such as:

“You don’t look sick.”

“You just need more sleep.”

“You seemed fine yesterday.”
