The Cost—and Value—of Boundaries
I moved to Boston.
Took a Senior VP role.
Locked down my finances.
But more importantly, I rebuilt my understanding of love.
Love isn’t draining yourself to prove loyalty.
It’s mutual respect.
Boundaries are expensive.
They cost me holidays.
Illusions.
Family traditions.
But freedom costs less in the long run.
I skipped my sister’s wedding.
Sent a practical gift.
Signed the card:
“Wishing you a life you build yourself.”
Sometimes the most powerful words aren’t emotional.
They’re calm.
No.
That isn’t authorized.
This is the limit.
The moment you stop paying for love, you find out who really gives it.
And you learn something else, too.
The person who must love you first… is you.
