What Did the Emergency Call Say About the Bedroom?
At approximately 7:05 a.m., emergency responders were called to the 2900 block of Green Street. Someone was reporting a house fire, and a woman remained inside.
According to PennLive, Dauphin County dispatch logs recorded the caller saying a space heater had started the fire in a bedroom. It’s not odd considering overnight temperatures had fallen to around 45 degrees.
Harrisburg firefighters found Julia in her bedroom and carried her onto the front lawn, where CPR was performed. The doctor who had spent years helping other families now needed someone to bring her back.
And as responders worked to understand the emergency, Jonathan gave police a version of the events that stretched back to the previous evening, when the family’s plans had included something as ordinary as a ballet class.
What Did Her Husband Say Happened Before the Alarms?
According to a criminal complaint obtained by People, Jonathan told investigators that Julia had come home from work feeling unwell on Friday, October 9. She had been expected to take their daughter to ballet, but he said a new migraine medication was making her sick.
He described being awakened later that night by a loud noise, sometime around 11 p.m. or midnight. To him, he said, it sounded like someone falling down the stairs.
Jonathan told police he went to the landing, where he could see down toward the basement, but saw nothing. When he called out to ask whether Julia was all right, he said she mumbled a response, and he heard her bedroom door close.
