How to fix the charging contact issue
The good news: this is usually easy to fix.
Over time, dust, pocket lint, skin oils and tiny bits of debris can build up inside the case and around the charging pins.
Here’s what to do:
– Take a dry cotton swab and gently clean inside the case, especially around the metal charging pins.
– Wipe the stem of each AirPod where it sits against those pins.
– Even if you don’t see obvious dirt, a thin film can still interfere with good contact.
After cleaning, drop each AirPod back in and make sure you feel a solid click or magnetic pull. That small bit of maintenance alone can fix the “one always dies first” problem for a lot of people.
