Who the Agent Is — and Why That’s Adding Fuel
The agent who fired the fatal shots has reportedly been identified as Jonathan Ross, described as part of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations’ Special Response Team.
Federal authorities have defended the shooting as “defensive” and have argued the agent feared for his life.
But officials in Minnesota have indicated they may seek criminal charges, and local prosecutors have called on the public to submit any evidence related to the incident.
At the same time, federal officials have suggested state authorities will not be able to prosecute the agent — citing federal jurisdiction and protections.
