Social Security recipients received a 2.8% increase for 2026, raising benefits for tens of millions of Americans.

But inflation has remained elevated enough in 2026 for analysts to predict a somewhat larger increase next year.

The Senior Citizens League reported that July’s CPI-W showed a year-over-year increase of approximately 3.4%, contributing to its latest 3.6% COLA projection.
