A chill ran down her spine as she turned away from the door. The silence inside the house was more oppressive than the storm outside.

Every room she passed seemed to hold its breath, as if waiting for something. The air was thick with tension.

She walked to the kitchen, her footsteps soft on the wooden floor, trying to shake the feeling of being watched. She needed to calm down, to think clearly.

The kettle whistled, breaking the eerie silence, but even the sound of boiling water felt too loud, too intrusive.

As she poured herself a cup of tea, she noticed something odd. The usually vibrant view from the window was obscured by an unusual mist, swirling and shifting outside.
