His reply was quick, but it offered little reassurance.
“We’ll figure it out,” he said, a vague promise that did little to ease my anxiety.
I sighed, setting the phone aside and closing my eyes.
The weight of the situation pressed down on me, heavy and suffocating.
It was hard to imagine how things would play out, how we would navigate this new normal.
But deep down, I knew we couldn’t continue like this.
Something had to give, and soon.
The thought lingered, refusing to be ignored.
