But Mark didn’t care about her—or their son. He had long since erased her from his life. However, as fate would have it, he had not erased Rhea from his mind entirely. When the time came to plan his wedding to Angelica, Mark decided to do something he thought would be the perfect “final blow” to his ex-wife’s already shattered ego.
He invited Rhea to the wedding.
But it wasn’t an invitation of goodwill. Mark wanted Rhea to see his success, to witness how far he had come, and to show her how little she meant to him now. On the back of the invitation, he wrote a note designed to humiliate her even further: “Come so you can at least have a decent meal. Don’t worry, there will even be food for beggars. Come and meet the woman who replaced you.”
Rhea received the invitation, and after a long moment of thought, she made a decision that would change everything. She accepted.
