The Secret to Streak-Free Mirrors

Why This Became a Problem

Cleaning mirrors can be surprisingly tricky. After spending time and effort to make them spotless, only to end up with streaks that appear out of nowhere, is extremely frustrating. This often happens because the cleaning methods we use leave behind residue or lint, which becomes visible when the light hits the surface.

What Actually Worked

The solution is surprisingly simple and involves a common household item: a coffee filter. Coffee filters are lint-free and perfect for achieving a streak-free shine on your mirrors. They don’t leave behind any residue, unlike paper towels or cloths.

How to Do It at Home

Start with a clean, dry coffee filter. Spray your usual glass cleaner onto the mirror or directly onto the coffee filter. Gently wipe the mirror in a circular motion, ensuring that you cover the entire surface.

Pay extra attention to the corners and edges where streaks tend to hide. If necessary, use a second filter to polish the mirror to a perfect finish.

For stubborn spots, you can slightly dampen a corner of the coffee filter with water and rub the area gently before drying it with the rest of the filter.

When This Helps Most

This trick is particularly useful when you need the bathroom to look its best, such as before having guests over or when you want to enjoy a pristine space. It’s also a great quick fix for those rushed mornings when you need your mirror to be clear for last-minute touch-ups.
