Night after night, Logan pretended to sleep.
And night after night, Maya repeated the same quiet ritual.

“Why do you do this?” he whispered.
Maya froze.

Logan confessed.
Her face fell—not in anger, but hurt.
“You thought I would steal from you?”
He had no defense.
“People with the heaviest walls need kindness the most,” she said softly.
They talked for hours.

Loneliness.
For the first time, the mansion felt warm.
