“Preventable”—But Still Defended

At a press conference alongside Customs and Border Protection Commander Gregory Bovino, Secretary Kristi Noem made her most revealing statement yet.

“Any loss of life is a tragedy,” Noem said. “And I think all of us can agree that, in this situation, it was preventable.”

The word hung in the air.

But then came the pivot.

Noem immediately defended the officer’s actions, insisting the agent followed training and acted appropriately.

She also took direct aim at Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Noem said. “It’s very clear this individual was harassing and impeding law enforcement operations.”

In Noem’s telling, the officer did exactly what he was trained to do.

To many listening, that raised an even darker question:
