Trump Launches Military Strikes on Venezuela as Explosions Rock the Capital

Controversial Statements Resurface

Following the strikes, past comments made by Trump resurfaced online.

In October, when asked why he would not seek a declaration of war from Congress, Trump responded:

“I think we’re just gonna kill people. Okay? We’re gonna kill them.”

He later suggested congressional approval would be unlikely to face resistance.

At the time, President Maduro accused the U.S. of fabricating a conflict and seeking a “new eternal war.”

Just days before the strikes, Maduro stated that Venezuela remained open to talks with the U.S. on drug trafficking and oil.

Those talks now appear off the table.
