As bystanders struggled to process the scene, Collins and Moses heard something even more disturbing.
A scream.
Not a cry for help.
Not a shout.
A scream of pure desperation.
A scream from someone who believed they might be dying.
“I heard the voice of somebody screaming — a man that’s screaming for their life,” Moses later recalled.
Those words would stay with everyone who heard them.
Because in that moment, there was no time to think.
