Why Was Bethlehem So Crowded?
The Bible explains that Joseph and Mary struggled to find lodging when they arrived in Bethlehem.
Many people assume this was simply due to the census.
However, supporters of the autumn-birth theory note that Jerusalem and surrounding areas became crowded during major Jewish festivals, attracting large numbers of pilgrims.
If Jesus was born during one of these feast seasons, the lack of available accommodations becomes easier to understand.
So Was Jesus Born on December 25th?

What is clear is that December 25th became the traditional celebration date centuries after Christ’s birth. Whether Jesus was born in December, September, October, or another time of year entirely remains a matter of interpretation.
