When my son and his wife asked me to watch their two-month-old baby while they went shopping, I expected a quiet afternoon of rocking, feeding, and soft lullabies. Instead, his cries turned desperate, sharp, and relentless. No matter what I tried, he wouldn’t calm down. When I checked his diaper, what I saw made my hands tremble. I grabbed my coat, rushed to the hospital, and realized that sometimes a grandmother’s instinct can save a life.

”I need help!” I told the nurse at the desk, barely able to catch my breath. “My grandson—there’s something wrapped around his leg.”

The nurse immediately ushered us into a treatment room.

Within minutes, a pediatric doctor arrived.

“What seems to be the problem?” he asked gently.

I carefully unbuttoned Noah’s clothes and showed him the swollen area.
