When a “Stain” Refuses to Leave
I tried everything you’re supposed to try.
Extra detergent. Different detergent. Hot wash. Cold wash. Soaking. Scrubbing.
The spot stayed.
Then another towel developed the same orange discoloration.
Then another.
That’s when it stopped feeling like a one-off mistake and started feeling like a pattern.
The Usual Suspects Didn’t Add Up
- I checked the washing machine for rust.
- I inspected the dryer drum.
- I considered iron in the water supply.
- I blamed bathroom cleaners.
Nothing explained why only certain towels were affected… and why the color looked bleached, not dirty.
The real answer turned out to be hiding in plain sight—on my bathroom shelf.
