Each time I try to focus on the project at hand, my thoughts wander, caught up in the complexities beneath the soil that no one else seems to see.

My partner walks in, glancing at the screen before looking at me with a mix of concern and frustration.

“Have you made any progress?”

I shake my head, trying to muster a reassuring smile.

“Not yet. It’s… complicated.”

They sigh, leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed. “You know you need to focus on what’s important, right?”

The words sting, echoing the doubts already swirling in my mind.

“I know,” I reply softly, though I’m not sure I believe it.

Turning back to the screen, the cursor blinks expectantly, a silent reminder of the looming deadline.
