She was huddled in his blankets, an oversized flannel shirt hanging from her shoulders. Her blue dress lay in a stiff, sodden heap beside the bed, a testament to the night’s events.

The room was silent except for the soft hum of the heater working overtime to combat the chill that had settled in. She pulled the flannel tighter, breathing in the faint scent of him that clung to the fabric.
